Since the triathlon season is winding down soon, I am getting more calls from folks wanting advice on their tri bikes plus info on road bikes. Because of the recent boom in the bike business, many people have bicycles less than two years old and want to know what I recommend given the state of the economy. This is why KGS Bikes is adding the FrameUp™ program. Here are the details.

1) When you get a BalancePoint™ Positional Analysis, you will find your real bike position. It may or may not match production bikes but odds are, it won’t match your existing bike. As I wrote recently, over 95% of people need significant repositioning to achieve the position that is both the most efficient and the most comfortable.

2) Since the frame is by far the most important part of your bike regarding its ability to fit you and to handle properly, customer demand has prompted us to do what we do best, design a bike, but do it around your existing stuff. Recycling, as it were, all the parts that would work on your new bike makes sense economically and you get truly the best of both worlds.

3) We have an eBay consignment program whereby we take your old frame and sell it for you for a fee of 25% plus auction and Paypal fees.

Here is what happens. When you finish the BalancePoint™ session we will know whether you need a new frame or not. We can do what we can with your bike, or just leave it as is while your frame is in production. When it is ready, we will either disassemble, inspect and overhaul, and reassemble the parts on your new bike or we can take just the saddle, seatpost, handlebars, stem and levers, to set it up. This is why we call it FrameUp™ because the frame plus the setup is all that we really need to do in order to guarantee that you will be totally satisfied.

At the end of the day, we can build the new bike, or you can, or your favorite local bike shop can. You are able to maximize your current asset, your existing bike, and really make the dollars stretch.

Have you considered what cycling could be like with Your Custom Frame  supporting all the components you already have?
