In the land of brake calipers, the big manufacturers, Campagnolo, Sram and Shimano all make great brakes, but there are some small companies trying to wrestle market share by doing a better job at stopping with style. I have always liked the Zero Gravity brakes and liked them even more with improvements that came year after year. For the best of the best, I have been specifying AX-Lightness, but the difficulty in dealing with the manufacturer and the lead times required to offer them made for a less than perfect relationship.
I recently sold a couple of sets of the new Gravitas brakes by Ciamillo / Zero Gravity and in a discussion with Ted Ciamillo, ended up becoming an “Elite 50″ dealer for San Antonio and Austin. What this means is, Ciamillo has found 50 bicycle dealers across the country that represent the type of business that they want selling their product. When the program commences, KGS Bikes will be the exclusive provider of these brakes in the greater San Antonio and Austin area.
I am thrilled about this for a couple of reasons. The first is, I really like the brakes and am honored that Ciamillo chose us to represent them. The second is, I am always looking for ways to increase visitor traffic to the KGS studio and this gives more of you a reason to come say hi.
I will be outlining some feature posts in the near future on the way these brakes can be customized and used to personalize your ride. They also are a way to both save weight and increase stopping performance.
