At KGS Bikes, finding one’s perfect position is standard procedure. Many times, however, clients have asked, “How do I know that this position will work where I ride?” This is a legitimate question.
Over the holidays I found a second setup bike frame that was the same as my original. I have done lots of add ons and tweaks, so when I was in the middle of the project, I was struck with my client’s question. The answer came in the form of our Tacx Fortius Multiplayer trainer, that not only has the cool motor/brake that will make the setup bike feel more natural, but has the ability to allow one to virtually ride anywhere in the world.
We have a PowerTap power meter on the setup bike but now the Fortius allows us to use true virtual reality, Real Life Videos and even to ride Google Earth routes. If you save a ride from a GPS or create one on Mapmyride.com, we can then download that data and the Fortius will show you riding that course on Google Earth!
Now it will be much easier to validate your position when you are helping us design your KGS Custom Bicycle. You will have better feedback and much more confidence that your body is giving you good information to help us define your setup.
