The bicycle industry is very cyclical, and the busy season starts the end of January. What this means for custom bikes is lead times increase, so everything takes longer and shortages are common. This year is predicted to be particularly bad because the economy is improving here, plus a lot of inventory that was manufactured for the US is going to other countries who have bicycle booms.
With this in mind, KGS Bikes is having a promotion to help you beat the rush and help us get some orders booked before bedlam hits. Here is the plan.
Effective immediately until Feb 1, 2011: BalancePoint™ Positioning rebates!
If you get a bike positioning before February 1 and choose to commission KGS Bikes to build you a custom bike or frame, you get the following:
KGS Custom Bicycle, frame, or FrameUp™, up to $12,000 (pre tax) = 100% rebate, or $375
$12,001 and up (pre sales tax) = 200% rebate, or $750.
All you need to do is book the bike prior to February 1 and give us the deposit. You don’t even need to perform the actual positioning until your soonest reasonable opportunity. What you are doing, is claiming your place in line.
Here are current lead times for our benchmark bicycle framebuilders:
Parlee, 8 weeks for road, six months for custom tri
Passoni, 10 weeks
Cyfac, 10 weeks
In thirty days, you can add up to sixty days to these numbers.
